After months of dreaming and planning, we have created the Lodge to Lodge Kayak Get-Away along the Lake Tahoe Water Trail and the Thunderbird Lodge Kayak Tour. Our Intro to Kayaking, and Adventure based Star Gazing Tours continue to be as popular as ever. The new trips are a great addition to our existing Kayaking, Biking, and Multisport tours, as well as our Kayak and Stand-up Paddle Board Rentals that we have offered for many years. Experience the first ever multi-day kayak adventure along the Lake Tahoe Water Trail! This fall we are featuring a multi-day kayak and stay package along the West, North and East shores of Lake Tahoe. Enjoy the glassy, clear waters with early morning guided paddles spotting local wildlife and learning the unique natural and human history of this special region. By afternoon, arrive at your lakefront hotel for a hot shower, warm meal, and pure relaxation. In the afternoon you can choose to benefit from a massage, a walk along the beach, skipping stones, or simply relaxing by the pool or on the water's edge.

Thunderbird Lodge Kayak Tour |  | |
We are thrilled to announce the one and only kayak tour to the Thunderbird Lodge. The water is an exciting and beautiful way to arrive at and tour this historic stone castle.
Starting from Sand Harbor, kayak on the clear waters and among its unique boulders to the Thunderbird Lodge, known to locals as the "Castle-in-the-Sky". Along the way, enjoy natural and human history discussions before arriving at the lodge. Pull up on the private beach landing where you will enjoy a historic walking tour of this late 1930's estate and learn the story of the mysterious Captain George Whittell, Jr. This eccentric man who built it had pet elephants and lions, was intrigued with fast cars and exotic women, and participated in high stakes poker games at the Cal Neva hotel across the bay. The tour is followed by a fantastic deli spread lunch on the shores of Lake Tahoe before paddling back to Sand Harbor.
Typical Distance and Time: 3 miles, 9am to 2pm.
Cost: $124 per person 2 person minimum. A $39 donation per person will be made to the Thunderbird Lodge Preservation Society.
If you have your own kayak and do not want the full kayak tour with lunch, the rate is $79.

Intro to Kayaking Special ~$49The best deal of the summer! This class is structured for beginner kayakers to learn the basics of gear, paddle strokes, and self rescues in a safe environment. This 2 hour introductory course is instructed by our professional guides and allows time for questions and paddling together. This is a great way to introduce yourself or a loved one to the wonderful world of kayaking! As always, Tahoe's unique natural and human history will be covered.
Classes run daily from 10-12pm and 1-3pm at the Tahoe Vista Recreation Area. Reservations are required with a two person minimum.
Cost: $49 ~ Includes kayak gear, comprehensive kayak lesson and guided tour.

Star Gazing Tours |  | |
Back by popular demand, Tahoe Adventure Company and award winning astronomer Tony Berendsen present adventure based Star Gazing Tours. Your adventure begins with a sunset hike or kayak trip led by our naturalist guides. Hot drinks and snacks will be served at the conclusion. Next, we will be joined by Tony with his high aperture telescopes on a tour of the stars and planets. His entertaining program includes a sky tour by laser, poems, a quiz with prizes and more!
Cost: $65. Kayaking tour includes kayak gear, permit fees, professional guides, natural and human history talks, hot drinks and snacks.
