Well, after another mild winter, many trails in the Tahoe Truckee area are clear and mountain biking season is in full swing. Many a local can be seen with a Stand Up Paddleboard, Mountain Bike AND a pair of skis or board on their roof! Spring is a special time in Tahoe and Truckee with 2 and 3 sport days very doable and common. Many of our guests are taking advantage and booking Multisport Adventures with us. Kayak or SUP in the morning and enjoy a guided mountain bike tour or hiking trip in the afternoon. With some moisture arriving this weekend, it looks like one more powder day (at least) may be in our future followed by some great mountain biking conditions after the dirt soaks it up. If you are not familiar with local trails or are new to mountain biking, one of our knowledgeable guides will be happy to introduce you to the area, provide the gear, and even your lunch! 6 Key Items for Winter Adventure in Tahoe1. Quick drying layers: "Long Underwear" pants and two or more tops, depending on the weather and time of day. There are a myriad of quick drying fabric blends out there, both natural and synthetic, but they can be broadly identified by the keywords "wicking" and "fast-drying." These fabrics will keep you warm and dry, where your cotton t-shirt absorbs sweat and can leave you in an uncomfortable and possibly dangerous situation as it hinders your body's ability to retain heat.
2. Waterproof outer layers: Especially if the forecast is calling for precipitation, quality waterproof jacket and pants are a godsend. When it comes to waterproof materials, many brands claim it, but few stand up to the true test (Sun-wet Sierra Nevada snow will separate the best from the rest). Although it usually requires a healthy investment, Gore-Tex not only keeps you completely dry but also breathes out moisture created by your body. A shell layer combined with quick dry base la...

Visitors Love To Adventure With UsWe visited Lake Tahoe a few weeks ago and got very lucky because Tahoe Adventure Company had reopened for the season the same day we decided to rent kayaks! They're located in North Lake Tahoe. The process of renting kayaks from them was very easy. They took the time to make sure we got on the kayaks safely which I appreciated. You do sign a liability waiver when you rent. Also they provide life jackets. Make sure to bring a ziplock bag or something to keep your phone in! They provide waterproof bags for a fee. The guys working that day were friendly. They also have several lessons/tours which would be fun to try out in the future since some of them take you to cool coves, etc. Their pricing for renting kayaks is reasonable for the area: $27 for a single and $39 for a double per hour, including all fees. Also if you rent for 2 hours, they offer the 3rd hour free. I also want to give a shout-out to Courtney who answers the phone when you call the company and is THE NICEST person I have ever spoken to over the phone. She's extremely helpful and seemed so great! Thank you Courtney!! -Vidhi S.
Rentals"Also, many thanks to Katie for her attentiveness. As a solo traveler, I couldn't book this trip just for myself, I'd have to wait for others to book a trip since there is a four-guest minimum. What she did is she took down my name and number and called me when someone booked in the date range I wanted to go, so that I could go with them. Great service, and as someone who's often been excluded from activities as a solo traveler, that is very much appreciated!" -Trip Advisor Review Our AdventuresKevin - we had a great time yesterday on one of your Guided Snowshoe Tours. Marin was a wonderful guide. She provided a nice balance of keeping us engaged in the environment we were in, guiding us safely, and giving us plenty of space to enjoy being with our family and dogs. Thanks for accommodating our last minute tour - it was well worth it.
All the best, Renee Winter Adventures"We had a wonderful adventure to Thunderbird Lodge. The kayak trip to the lodge was beautiful and at a casual pace. Our guides Bailey and Collin were very informative and shared their knowledge of the history, nature & geology of Lake Tahoe. The tour of Thunderbird Lodge was interesting and thorough. We then had a great picnic lunch on the grounds before paddling back to Sand Harbor. We would say that if you could only do one thing at Lake Tahoe, that this trip would provide some of the best Lake Tahoe has to offer." Angie R.

-- Kaitlin G. We had 2 tours with this company both were perfect. The kayak tour guide was really informative, funny, and friendly. Made the experience better then if we were to just rent a kayak at the beach. The 2 hour kayak trip felt like 30 minutes we were having a lot of fun. The hiking tour guide was great as well she made sure no one was left behind and kept us entertained the whole hike she was also very informative, funny and friendly the 4 mile hike was much better having someone experienced showing us what every plant and landmark was and supporting our group along the way. If you make your way to Tahoe definitely book with these guys you won’t regret it.
