We will work with you to determine the appropriate hiking distance and trail for your group and take care of all the details. We offer itineraries throughout the Lake Tahoe and Truckee region and truly have something for every level of hiker.

Custom Hiking Adventures

Many hiking options exist in the Lake Tahoe and Truckee area. Whether you are looking for a leisurely, naturalist led hike among wildflower filled meadows or a more strenuous ascent of one of our nearby peaks, Tahoe Adventure Company can arrange it.

All hikes offer amazing vistas of Lake Tahoe and/or views into surrounding wilderness. Experience the beauty of Tahoe's high country that can only be accessed on foot. Hike past waterfalls and streams to one of our many granite surrounded alpine lakes. If you are looking for more of a challenge, you can continue to the top of one of our nearby peaks for panoramic views that can't be beat. Many options exist for every ability level. Please call for specific trip profiles.

Fall Foliage Hike

Explore some of Tahoe's best hiking trails as the season changes with Tahoe Adventure Company's Fall Foliage Guided Hike. Learn about the local geology, native Washoe culture and discover the finer points of sub-alpine ecology and other unique conditions of the Tahoe Basin, all while taking in the array of Fall hues contrasted by the towering evergreens.

Typical Distance and Time: 2-8 miles. 10am-2pm.
Level of Difficulty: All levels.
Location: Varies.
Cost: $70 per person, 4 person minimum.







Kayaking and Hiking Multisport

Kayaking and Hiking Multisport

Your group will begin the day by kayaking a beautiful section of coastline. We will paddle through granite boulder fields and past secluded beaches. Knowledgeable guides will outfit participants for the trip and offer a thorough kayak lesson. Once on the water, your guides will discuss lake ecology, geology and other natural and human history topics.

After lunch, we will caravan 10-15 minutes to a local trail-head where we will begin our hike into the mountains around Lake Tahoe. Natural and human histories are the focus of our hike. Knowledgeable guides will offer discussions on native plants and animals, more geology and native Washoe culture. We will stop often to enjoy spectacular views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding peaks.

Tour includes all kayaking gear, knowledgeable guide, natural and human history discussions, permit fees, snacks, bottled water and deli lunch..

This trip can also be done in reverse order should weather permit.


Typical Distance and Time: Approximately 2-3 miles kayaking and 2-10 miles hiking. 10am-3pm.
Level of Difficulty: Easy - Moderate .
Location: Starts at Tahoe Vista Recreation Area for kayak; Hike based on level.

Hiking and Mountain Biking Multisport
Start the day with a hike on a favorite local trail where we will enjoy spectacular views and cover natural history topics. After enjoying an excellent lunch at a scenic location, we will ride on a choice of single track trails or along the Truckee River bike path. This trip can also be done in reverse order should weather permit.

Tour includes Front suspension mountain bike, helmet, knowledgeable guide, instruction, natural and human history discussions, permit fees, snacks, bottled water and deli lunch.


Typical Distance and Time: Based on activity level. 10am-3pm.
Level of Difficulty: Easy - Moderate.
Location: Based on trail selection.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Hiking Multisport

Stand Up Paddleboarding and Hiking Multisport
We will begin the day by Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) a beautiful section of Lake Tahoe shoreline; paddling through granite boulder fields and past secluded beaches. Knowledgeable guides will outfit participants for the trip and offer complete instruction on SUP equipment and technique. Once on the water, your guides will offer paddling tips and discuss lake ecology, geology and other natural and human history topics.

After lunch on the beach, we will caravan to the trail-head where we will start hiking into the mountains around Lake Tahoe. Natural and human histories are the focus of our hike. Knowledgeable guides will offer discussions on native plants and animals, more geology and native peoples. The scenery is spectacular and hikes for all abilities are available.

Tour includes stand up paddleboard (SUP), paddle, life jacket, knowledgeable guide, natural and human history discussions, permit fees, snacks, bottled water and deli lunch.


Typical Distance and Time: Approximately 2-3 miles paddleboarding and 2-4 miles hiking. 10am-3pm.
Level of Difficulty: Easy - Moderate.
Location: Tahoe Vista Recreation Area for SUP; Hike based on level.
