You can't tell by looking that Lake Tahoe is one of the deepest and highest lakes in the world, but its extraordinary clarity and mesmerizing blueness have to be seen to be believed. Its setting among the peaks and forests of the Sierras makes it a living postcard that groups will be tempted to experience and explore.
Luckily, there are nearly as many ways to get out on the lake and enjoy the scenery as there are shades of blue.
Tahoe Adventure Company features team-building exercises for nearly any size of group, either on the water or off. In the summer, guided sunset, full moon and astronomy kayak tours on the lake are just a few of the memorable experiences available, and customized programs are also offered. In the colder months, a Winter Olympics-theme team-building package is designed to bring out both competition and collaboration in groups.
Team Up for Adventure
by Katie Morell Meetings West, April 2006
Lake Tahoe's majestic natural beauty lends itself to exciting outdoor pursuits, including interesting team-building options and adventure sports. Several local companies on both the North and South shores cater to groups seeking a unique way to incorporate the great outdoors into agendas.
Tahoe Adventure Company: Another ropes course option is offered through Tahoe Adventure Company, which also incorporates sports such as kayaking, biking, rock climbing, and hiking into its team-building programs. The company also specializes in Beach Olympics, in which groups are broken down into teams of 12 to 15 attendees to complete a series of enjoyable bonding tasks. Tahoe Adventure Company also aims to educate groups about the heritage of the area by stopping along the way during hikes to discuss the region's natural and cultural history.

"Registration was easy, and the people on the phone were very friendly and helpful. With less than 24 hours notice, they set up a customized bike ride for my brother and me. We told them we had no previous mountain biking experience but are very athletic teens and would only be a group of two instead of the supposed minimum of four. They let us sign up for a lengthier and more advanced trail (the Flume Trail) than the usual beginner options and even upgraded our bikes for free! Our guide was very nice but not "too nice" (she obviously had experience dealing with teens). She knew the trail extremely well and took some great pictures of us (with our camera, so the pictures were free). We stopped for snacks and lunch (great sandwiches from Safeway), and the guide even showed us a fish restocking station. The biking itself was incredibly fun, but does require a fair bit of athleticism for both uphill and downhill sections (parents, be warned). We rode the shuttle back to the meeting point to get picked up in the afternoon. Fantastic experience overall." -Vincent W.
"I went out on the Sunset~Full Moon tour with TAC this week and it was just an exceptional experience, one I'll cherish for a long time. Safe and socially distanced, a great group of folks all visited easily which I attribute to our guide Tyler. He was so welcoming to all of us from the get-go. Organized. Streamlined. Professional. Lots of good information about the lake, the area, and just great upbeat vibes all around. Thank you, TAC!" -Cheryl L.
"I bring large groups to them for team building and they ALWAYS come back happy. They know the soft skills required to help businesses bond and learn." -Barb S.
"We had a fantastic sunset snow shoe tour with Eric and Michelle today. They were fun and very knowledgeable about snow shoeing, the trail, the area and the plants and animals of the area both past and present. It was a three hour tour at a good pace (we definitely got our workout in). I would totally go on another tour with them. Actually we found out they do kayak tours in the summer so when we come up in the summer we will definitely be giving them a call! Great afternoon! A+ experience!!!" -Trip Advisor Review

Micah was our tour guide on the kayak tour on July 3rd on the Sand Harbor Kayak Tour and he was great! He was friendly, knowledgeable of the area and had a great attitude. The lunch was delicious and fresh. We couldn't have asked for a better kayak tour. -Tara and Howard

I want to thank you for a wonderful Thunderbird Lodge Kayak Tour. I hesitated spending the extra money for the Lodge tour, but everyone in our group seemed very pleased with this extra. Seeing the estate from the water and then leaving our kayaks of the sandy beach while doing the tour felt special. Mark was knowledgeable and the timing was relaxed. Having lunch in the gazebo was a nice touch. Kori was personable and we enjoyed her description of the geology and history of the area. We spoke highly of the trip to Stefanie of the Cedar House where we were staying. Thanks for a great trip, Ruth A.
