Customize the length and difficulty of your adventure with many different Snowshoe Tour itineraries. Your guide will offer fascinating natural and human history information along the way as well as complete instruction and safety information. No experience necessary!

All guided snowshoeing treks offer a taste of the solitude and quiet that defines winter in the Tahoe Truckee area. Guided Tour options can include amazing vistas of Lake Tahoe or views into the surrounding wilderness and the tranquility of a snowy forest. Experience the beauty of Tahoe's high country that can only be accessed on foot! If you are looking for more of a challenge, you can continue to the top of one of our nearby peaks for panoramic views that can't be beat. Many options exist for every ability level. Trail heads are based on the group's activity level as well as snow pack. Snowshoeing is suitable for children age 8 and up.

Snowshoeing Lake Tahoe's Mountains

We will meet your group, preview the day's plan, and head up to one of our local trail-heads. Time will be spent fitting and discussing gear and covering a comprehensive lesson. Natural and human history is a main focus of our trek. Knowledgeable guides will offer discussions on native plants and animals, geology and local culture. Discover the finer points of winter ecology and other unique conditions of the Tahoe Truckee area. We will also stop along the way to take in the beautiful views. Our guided Snowshoe Tours are popular with all levels of nature enthusiasts.

Full Moon Snowshoe Tours

Looking for a great way to enhance your trip to Lake Tahoe this winter? Join Tahoe Adventure Company for one of our very special Full Moon Snowshoe Treks. Take in the brisk mountain air as you snowshoe under the moon and learn about the High Sierra.

After meeting the group and previewing the trip, time will be spent fitting gear and a comprehensive lesson will be covered. You will trek on our easy to use snowshoes through Tahoe's peaceful, wintry forest. As we travel by moonlight, our knowledgeable guides will discuss natural history and astronomy topics as well as fascinating facts about our moon. We will also stop along the way to take in the beautiful views and enjoy snacks and hot drinks. This tour is popular with all ability levels and ages(8+)!

There is a 4 person minimum to run the tour. Single travelers are welcome and are able to book online. If we do not have a group we will call to cancel and will refund you.

All snowshoe tours are dependent on snow conditions. If the snow level is too low, the tour will proceed as a Full Moon Hike.

Sunset Snowshoe Adventure

Watch the sun cast a purple alpenglow onto the Sierras while trekking through Tahoe's peaceful forest. Experience the solitude of winter at this special time of day while learning local natural and human history. Offered daily, November-April or by custom arrangement. No experience necessary. Trail heads are based on snow pack and the group's activity level. All abilities welcome age 8 years and up.

Trip includes: Snowshoes, poles, knowledgeable guides, trail snacks, natural history discussions, and permit fees.

All Sunset Tour times will be based on the specific sunset time on the day of the tour.

Group Sunset Snowshoe Tours are scheduled every Friday but can be booked any day of the week with a minimum of 4 people. If you are a single traveler, please call to see if there is a group to join!
