Reasons to go with a GuideReasons to go with a guide
In the Tahoe Adventure Company office, we get a lot of phone calls from people who want to get out on the water, but don’t want to take a guided kayaking or paddle boarding tour. Some people hold this belief so staunchly that they’ll turn down an opportunity to get on the water altogether to avoid the apparent agony of having someone lead you around. I understand it–especially after several years in a pandemic, sometimes the last thing we want is to hang out with a stranger. Yet, I heard in a podcast that often what we think we want and what we actually want are quite different. They did a study on people getting on a commuter train–some people were asked to engage in small talk with those around th...

Why Outdoor Activity is the best form of Self-CareIn the past few years, the idea of “self-care” has taken off and people living stressful lifestyles have begun to invest more time and money into taking care of themselves. The self-care retail industry is predicted to be valued at $13 billion by 2026, showing astronomical growth since even 2019. It makes sense—work life has become more stressful, demanding after-hours work and blurring work/life balance boundaries due to the rise in working from home. “Quiet Quitting,” when you only put in the effort detailed in your job description, is also on the rise: a staunch resistance to the corporate trend of rewarding hard workers with more work without more compensation. All this is to say that people are more stressed out than ever before, therefore more willing to invest in self-care and mental wellness.
Yet, when some think of self-care, they think of serums, face masks, ...

Visitors Love To Adventure With UsI went kayaking today with a youth group I volunteer with, ages 10 to 14. We had a great time! The instructors were helpful and knowledgeable, and made everyone feel safe. We paddled out into Tahoe Lake individually, including a boat race, and then the kids got to swim (with their life vests) in the lake, or play games between the kayaks. The bottom wasn't more than 30 feet deep. We spent about 2.5 hours on the water. On the way in, we linked all the kayaks and paddled as a chain. Nice teamwork! Overall a great experience. I hope to return again. -Chris C. Water Adventures"Great people to work with. Our company partnered with the Tahoe Adventure Company on a promotion, and Katie & Kevin (owners) are extremely professional and have a rock solid reputation in the community. When our vacation rental guests want a guided adventure tour we sent them to the Tahoe Adventure Company!" -Jeff S. Our Adventures"Sophia was our guide and we absolutely loved the experience! She was kind, knowledgeable, friendly and obviously skilled with a kayak. She also snapped this great photo of our group." -Ashley B. Water Adventures"I went out on the Sunset~Full Moon tour with TAC this week and it was just an exceptional experience, one I'll cherish for a long time. Safe and socially distanced, a great group of folks all visited easily which I attribute to our guide Tyler. He was so welcoming to all of us from the get-go. Organized. Streamlined. Professional. Lots of good information about the lake, the area, and just great upbeat vibes all around. Thank you, TAC!" -Cheryl L.

-- Joan "Being a local here in Tahoe for many years I am not one to sign up for a tour, but inspiration came when my friend invited me for the Full Moon Kayak tour on Lake Tahoe. What a treat to see the sun set behind our boat and then to watch the full moon rise and reflect upon the lake." -Jani O.
